My first language was point-and-grunt. English came later.
French, German, Irish Gaelic and Sanskrit.
Spanish, Russian, Pig Latin, and a little French and German
Arabic (classical and moroccan) and german. I'm ok with them, but I'm better after being around native speakers for a few weeks.

I took 5 years of Spanish in school, but that was a long time ago. I think I could probably get by and that's all.
German and English( perfect and good - in that order ), I learned one year of Russian in school ( only some basic words left - because at that time I was almost dying of malnutrition when I was 12 years old ( Russian occupied zone in Germany), I can understand Dutch ( Netherlands) but not write, I had 3 years of Latin in school (60 years ago) and would be still able to translate a Latin text but not to construct long sentences.
I'm fluent in English and Afrikaans (a Dutch pidgin endemic to South Africa) and am currently learning Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, French and Hindi, in that order of vigor.
Passable French and a little German and Latin from school days
I know enough Mandarin to be able to survive in China. I also know Latin pretty well, but I can't survive anywhere with that. Maybe the Vatican?

Knowing different languages as gotten me places i could have never gone without them, and i've met so many people because i speak 5 fluent languages. Not to mention how many girls I've had sex with because you can speak their language.
