German and English( perfect and good - in that order ), I learned one year of Russian in school ( only some basic words left - because at that time I was almost dying of malnutrition when I was 12 years old ( Russian occupied zone in Germany), I can understand Dutch ( Netherlands) but not write, I had 3 years of Latin in school (60 years ago) and would be still able to translate a Latin text but not to construct long sentences.

I know enough Mandarin to be able to survive in China. I also know Latin pretty well, but I can't survive anywhere with that. Maybe the Vatican?

I know useless little bits of a few lanuages.
I know just enough Spanish to make it clear to a Spanish speaker that I don't understand Spanish.

And I know how to say one sentence in French,
    "I do not eat French-Fries,"

    Pretty useless, eh?

I speak German, Spanish, Russian, French, and a little bit of Japanese, and of course English.
Knowing different languages as gotten me places i could have never gone without them, and i've met so many people because i speak 5 fluent languages. Not to mention how many girls I've had sex with because you can speak their language.
