depends, if it's as a present for an occasion, I ussually put a lot of thought into what SHE really wants. if it's just a little gift to surprise your girl, I would be more romantic. maybe just buy a couple nice flowers (not the clichéd rose) and perhaps write a little poem on the card. this works either to give in person, or to send to her work (watch it, some girls don't like this). I have found that girls don't often like practical, but rather an accessory that they would wear. maybe that's just the girls I've been with.
