Yes, even the shallowest frames leave room for something like that. At worst, you'd have to use a thinner backing than usual, but even that would be rare. You should adhere you're puzzle together in some way before framing it. Use either puzzle glue or have a frame shop drymount it to foamcore for you. If you really want to take care of it you should use plexiglas on the front so it doesn't risk sticking but that will cost more so if it is just a fun thing to hang for awhile you can stick with glass.
