  • First of all, I'm proud of you for acknowledging your weaknesses and wanting to improve you study skills. What I would do is to set aside a time to do your homework, study for tests, etc immediately after school, before you do anything else. It might be easier to get it done early, then you can goof off and do what you want. Have a place that you can study that is quiet and away from the temptations of TV, IPOD, phone, etc. Discipline yourself that you must get your homework out of the way BEFORE you allow yourself time to play on the internet or with your Wii or whatever. If at all possible, I would sign up, also, for weighted or advanced classes, as they can also count as college credit, which will look good on a college application. Don't forget to participate in an extra-curricular activity or two (make sure they are worthwhile), and maybe a community event from time to time, as they also look good on your college application.
