If you want to keep the vehicle the insurance companies will sometimes give you a portion of the funds and allow you to salvage the vehicle. This means that if they consider the vehicle totaled but you know you can fix it, they can let you keep it and pay you less than they would have if they totalled it. This is a good option for easy repairs but if you have a bent frame it may not be worth it. A bent from, even after being placed on a framing machine, can be weak, cause tires to wear unevenly, cause the front end to stay out of line... etc.

You're reading Is it worth repairing my 2007 Daihatsu Charade. Minor damage. Was rear-ended, rear fenders broken, doors won't close properly so chassis probably damaged. Am insured but will only walk away with 60% replacement cost. Is it better if it is written off?
