That's exactly what I have.
I began having panic attacks in places like shopping malls or restaurants or where ever there were large groups of people.
I have medication (Diazepam) that I take whenever I get into a situation where there may be large crowds of people or even heavy traffic.
I live 60 miles from town in the mountains and have only been to town 9 or 10 times in the last 8 years.
My girlfriend goes weekly however to get groceries etc and whatever I can't have her pick up I buy online.
I just stay on my ranch and work with my horses.
I feel comfortable being alone in the mountains surrounded by forest and cut off from the rest of the world.
It's an odd affliction.
Sorry to hear you suffer from this as well Morkin.
For me the most bizarre phobia is not bizarre because it is so rare, but bizarre because it is so inconvenient, and to an insensitive, unimaginative individual myself, because it is so inexplicable. It is agoraphobia - a morbid fear of open spaces (as fear of being caught alone in some public place).
One of my phobias is fear of, that is, a revulsion for, dark water - even if it is only ankle deep. Though I happily swim in the sea.
The other is a phobia arising at the sound of the spinning wheel - a very low-key yet distinctive sound if you happen to know it. This brings a feeling of cold dread and makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. It is a sound that is rarely heard nowadays of course. I have often thought of getting regression therapy - more to understand the origin of the fear than to banish it - but I never have.
I saw a woman on tv once that was terrified of little scraps of paper on the floor. She couldn't use a public bathroom because of it.

My mom is terrified of STRIPES...I think that's pretty strange.
The strangest phobia I know of is parthenophobia, which is the fear of virgins or young girls. I'm loathe to actually call any phobia "crazy" considering my irrational fear of spiders.
i have a fucking phobia of knives. don't laugh at me and it's not nice to laugh at others' phobias.

I have a friend who is a truck driver and is afraid of crossing bridges.

I know someone who is afraid of getting her clothes wet. She panics if it rains.
Fear of clowns and mascots..Unluckily,I was one of them..^_^
I have kind of an odd fear...I cannot swim in the deeper parts of a lake because I am scared of stepping on something icky or something might touch, bite or nibble at my feet. I am fine on shore as long as the water is clear and there is no weeds or anything nearby. I am also scared of swimming in the shadowy parts by the dock, for instance, because there might be something there that I can't see. I know it sounds stupid but I honestly cannot do it without nearly having a heart attack.
