I had a new driver almost every year and don't remember having a male driver. At my school (depending on grade), typically there were about 20-80 buses and 98% you could walk past one and the driver was female.

I don't know if there were any female bus drivers anywhere. I graduated from High School in the 1950's and we didn't have any and I had never heard that females drove buses.

I never rode the school bus to school until I started high school. I had two female bus drivers. The first one was black. The second one was a nice old lady. I liked both bus drivers. They were good and nice in my opinion.
My girl thinks I'm nuts. Does anyone remember black and white school buses in the 1970s? Maybe it was just an NYC thing.
