Is it ever ok to break someones confidence?

    I don't believe it's okay or acceptable to share a friends confidence with anyone else, unless that friends safety and well being are dependent upon doing so. Seeking general advice or information related to a friends situation, in order to help them, is acceptable, provided one does not in any way, implicate the friend.

    For instance, I have two friends who will most likely never meet, one tells me something in confidence, but it's such a big thing and you need advice, or just need to get it off your chest to stop it eating you up. Is it ok to tell the other friend? Maybe without mentioning names?

    Also would like to hear other opinions on keeping confidence.
