  • I prefer the standard english versions very time. They are more logical to me, as I am more familiar with them. Some spelling changes lose the etymology of the original word. In some cases both words are standard english, but have different meanings - eg dreamt/dreamed - here the difference is in the tense - preterite/perfect.

  • It depends on what I am writing and for whom. If I am writing something that is targeted for Brit English speakers, then I use the proper spelling that is accepted also in India, China, Australia/NZ, etc. If my audience is American, then I use Americanized English. There are lots of different English languages - we all should know which is appropriate and when.

  • All are acceptable -- no matter what your spell check says -- and in each case one is referred to as the "English" spelling and the other the "Colony's" spelling.
  • I use the English version as I am from England and here it is considered the correct way to spell the words.
