  • Literally, it means blue ribbon. Like many other french words used in english, it sounds better in french than translated, which is probably why we don't translate it. I know I would rather eat foie gras than fat liver!
  • Blue Ribbon, although very few Brits would think of it in that way . Cordon Bleu is a word that is integrated into the English language.
  • I didn't know it as Blue Ribbon it is in the language so much now that I just know the word cordon bleu for yummy food
