The Nazis were German but the German's weren't necessarily Nazis. Some German's resisted. Some died for their resistance.

i'm mostly german ancestry and i'm not a nazi :) but i do have relatives that were. everybody else said it right!

During WWII Germany's only party was NationalSozialist Partei. Better known as the NAZI's. This is often confused with the Bundeswehr, or the army. You could be Germnan and a soldier without being a Nazi. You didn't have to be in the army to be Nazi either, you just had to be a member of the party. Having met a few of them years and years ago, I can say that they're not much different from the far right in Republican politics, except that back then overt racism was obviously acceptable. Same blindness to the harm they cause and its long reaching effects though.
