What age did you stop sleeping with stuffed animals?

    Bobby, my teddy, still sleeps in my bed with me. Obviously he moves over when there's company... but I see no reason why I would ever kick him out completely.

    Well I used to try to sleep with animals but as a youngster they would start in my bed and i would stuff them in the oddest places in my sleep, or kick them a good bit away from the bed. Nowaday's i have a giant Boyd's Bear Dog named Bernie that I sleep with. I have to think of him as a pillow though or he too will end up stuffed in some odd place!

    I was never allowed to sleep with stuffed animals as a child. I'm not actually sure why my parents had that rule, but they did. I let my daughter sleep with them if she wants to, though she doesn't usually choose to unless she's sad or scared, and then I've always found talking to her about it worked better than a stuffed animal anyway.

    I never had a teddy bear...I had a blankie, though. It was very hard, and I swear I remember all the effort it took to stop, but I stopped sleeping/eating/playing/etc with it when I was about 5 or 6.

    When I got married and had my husband to cuddle with, and also my shepherd mix 75 lb. dog and my 18 lb. fluffy orange cat. No more room. lol. I have always kept my raggedy, no fur left, resewn a zillion times 'squashy bunny' because I always told squashy bunny all my secrets and he holds all my tears and laughters. I got it when I was one yr. old and I am now 45. He is kept in one of my dresser drawers to this day.

    Around the age of 24, I realised the direction my life was taking and a was jumping into bed with anything. One night it would be a rabbit, the next a stuffed monkey the next a bear. It was getting to the point that i was getting no gratification from these relaitionships and they were just papering over the cracks in my life.

    Now when I sleep with a stuffed animal it is beacuse I really fell we may have a future together (i am not talking about raising a stuffed litter together) but that I may find a lasting and gratifying relationship.

    Although you should of seen the legs on that stuffed giraffe last week...

    I'm 44, a professional, married with three great kids. And I have no intention of stopping. I have several, including four Adorable Kinders. I just pick which animal or rag doll that feels right for that night. Hubby doesn't care--he even buys some for me. I would never forbid my kids from having them, but the oldest one rarely sleeps with them. But she does have two cats.

    I stopped sleeping with stuffed animals, when I was about 9 years old. My parents told me that the stuffed animals were more a little-kid fallback. Besides the emotional issue, they didn't want me to fallback to the old young-child ways. Maybe the animals were starting to degrade in several ways, they shouldn't have taken it out on me for this. I found out, they later placed this animal in a big garbage bag, and they still have it in their hope-chest, to be saved as a memoir to their children's lives. I do dearly miss this doggie-like animal-they haven't proved they did it yet-only heard about that from my grandparent who was in on the scheme from the very beginning.
