You're reading What's the worst sci-fi movie you ever saw that other people liked for some mysterious reason? (I thought Starship Troopers was horrible.)

That's an excellent candidate. You'd think with such an overwhelmingly compelling theme and interesting characters and an incredible setting tailor made for wowing people with creativity and wowser special effects that they could have come up with something better than an hour long chase scene to eliminate two second tier bad guys.

I think it was when the 2nd one was released (I forget I have tried to purge them from my memory) we all went to see it. I was so bored I nearly walked out and (rather loudly) commented to a friend "this has so few ideas expect a superfluous car chase in a few minutes", as a joke. And then sure enough... The only film where I really wanted my money back afterwards, it felt like a complete waste of two hours of my life.
