Why do people say "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy"? If someone is your worst enemy, why would you care if something bad happened to them?

• true. i agree, but the point i was trying to get at was if you are going to hate someone enough to call them "your worst enemy" then wouldn't you want something bad to happen to them? i dont have any "worst enemies".

• it's just words ... 'your worst enemy' but when push comes to shove and you actually look into yourself, if you're anything near half decent, you wouldn't actually wish anything that bad to happen to that person, so why say it?! are you religious btw?

• yes, i worship God. like i said, i dont consider anyone an enemy so i was trying to understand why people would not want bad things to happen to an enemy. it just doesnt add up to me. if you care enough to not want bad things to happen to someone, then i dont think they are your enemy.

• o.k. but do you support them bombing the people who were responsible for 911? isnt that kind of the same thing? dont you think someone like Bin Laden deserves something terrible to happen to him such as what happened to the victims on 911?

• yah its okay if they bomb the people responsible, but as long as they get the right people, unfortunatly civilians did get caught in it.
