    Your sisters cute friend

I saw a man stealing hundreds of dollars of fishing lures from an outdoor store. I tried to tell a cashier... Excuse me... excuse me... I'M WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER RIGHT NOW.... Excuse me, this is important... YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT ON LINE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE...
Ok, hope your place is out of business now and you're having trouble finding a new job :D

look closely it is really me

Yes of course. Shoplifting is stealing and has an impact on all of that shop's customers in higher prices. Lock up all thieves.

No. I don't steal myself, but I am not going to rat on anyone.

I'd like to think that I would. The thing is that I don't want to get involved with criminals. Some people find that shoplifting is the only way they can make money, that and gang members will shoplift as a means to support their acts. By messing with their "livliehood", who knows if they are going to come after me at a later time.

Nope. Been guilty of it myself. Stole hundreds of dollars of merchandise from Barnes and Noble. I was slowly pushing the envelope of what I was capable of.

    No.

I have seen it happen many times and said nothing.

I would only stop someone stealing if the shop was owned by a vunerable old lady who barely had any money, that is about it.

That's a case by case call. If I saw someone who looked hard up stealing food in a grocery store, I probably would mind my own business. But if I saw someone try to lift a diamond ring from a jewelry store, yeah, I'd bust 'em right there. It's easy for people to point fingers at the desperate and blame them for their situation, but in these times, there's a thin line between them and you/me.

nope. it's none of my business, not my problem, and i don't want to get involved. the staff should be keeping a closer eye. and i think it's kind of presumptuous to go ratting on others. i don't need to get mixed up in someone else's issues.

i haven't been confronted yet with this so i don't know for sure. with the economy going down the tubes, there might be a justifiable exception - if a poor person stole a loaf of bread, maybe not. if a billionaire stole $50 billion in a ponzi scheme, i might be inclined to cast the first, second, and one-thousandth stone.

Yes. Shoplifting causes prices to rise and smaller shops to go out of business.

What one person steals, another person has to pay for with higher prices.

    Everyone suffers.

If that shop lifter is really in need and If that's something that I can afford to buy, I would rather buy it for him/her. If it is something expensive, I guess I would tell the person not to do it. I am sure sh/she would fear and put that thing back.

Definately. I worked in a large retail store and we'd lose approximately two truckloads of items in shrinkage (thievery) per year. This comes out of store profits which in turn means items cost more. So if you don't tell, then in the end it comes out of your own pocket!

Yes, because I work in retail; however, the staff is generally not allowed per company policy to stop a shoplifter, all they can do is ask the store LP to review videotapes and try to spot a video of the person shoplifting. Even at that, all that can be done is to watch for the shoplifter to return to the store, hopefully someone will recognize the person and be able to follow him/her around and catch the shoplifter redhanded. It's really a no-win situation, as (in the US anyway) a shoplifter cannot be stopped unless s/he exits the store with stolen merchandise, and then only by personnel authorized by the company to make a stop. That's part of the reason why consumer goods in the US are so expensive...we are all paying for the losses incurred by those who steal.

only if i was about to steal it. Just kidding, don't worry. But I would probably tell someone if they were a bunch of punks looking for a laugh, or if it was a frivolty. I would say anything if the item was somehting simple but WAAAy overpriced, then it deserves to be stolen.

Yes. Shoplifting is wrong. I feel bad for people that can not afford to buy things, but shoplifting is wrong.
