  • I think you have an excellant chance. Before you can get your CPA, you need to have experience working with a CPA.
  • The US Bureau of Statistics say in 2008 there will be a high demand for Accountants! So! There will be a number of jobs awaiting your presence. What will set you apart for great opportunities will be to have experience. Getting a CPA will be great and getting an M.A. will definitely set you apart from others for sure in regards to competition! However, they are saying while you are studying try to do an internship. I would suggest interning at a company you would like to work for in the future. If there are no spots - - VOLUNTEER! That shows initiative and you will get to know who are the key decision makers & connections/contacts. Wish you well.
  • I am in graduate school for accounting. I know that you most have 25 hours of business courses, 25 hours in accounting, and 150 credit hours (except the state of New York - 125 credit hours). Good luck! The CPA exam is one of the most difficult certified professional exam. I would advise taking the Becker course. Otherwise, the passing rate is less than 25%.
