most boots shouldn't need polishing when they are brand new, as the leather has already got protective chemicals on it. In fact I wouldn't bother for a week, unless of course they get scuffed or muddy
extra wax can help protect from scratches...plus you can put on a spit shine on the toe of the boot for brilliance.
