Here this site will tell you how to check the diagnostics yourself. I have an 83 coupe deville and it helped a little. My car started off running when in park and then dieing as soon as i put it in gear. I still have'nt got it fixed!http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/81cfb.html

try the iac idle air control. when cranking, the the engine runs on the start up enrichment circuit. as soon as it starts the idle is controoled by the iac. they will stick closed or gum up and the engine won't run. try tapping it with wrench, it may loosen it. if that is it remove and clean valve with carb cleaner. good luck

Have you had the computer scanned for error codes? I would suggest you take the car to an auto-electric specialist. Having them run some diagnostics will be far cheaper than just replacing parts til you get lucky and find the bad one.

What year car and engine size.
Check your fuel pressure. Turn the key to on when the gauge is hooked up and whatch to see if the needle starts to move towards zero if so you have a problem with a hose in your fuel tank that is connected to the pump. Just something to try. Good luck

Very seldom have I found a bad ECM usually if there is a problem it is wiring connections or bad ground! I would also be courious to know what your fuel pressure is just before your car dies, I wonder if you may have a bad fuel pump! or a bad ignition module!
