Help answer this question below.
I have Time Warner cable with their DVR....unfortunately, you have to play back the show you want to record, then record it on to the blank DVD!!! what a pain!! I hate it because you have to have your tv on to do it, using it up!! (so to speak!!)
What I do it bring the show up, have your blank DVD in the recorder, and when you want to start, push 'record' on your DVD Recorder's remote.Just make sure you watch the time..I set a digital kitchen timer so I don't record more than the length of the show!.if this doesnt help, call them and have them walk you thru it...after all, that's their job!!!!!!

You're reading How do I record DVDs from DVR??? Still learning to type at Answerbag. I'm a complete & utter Luddite. I have a DirecTV + SD DVR (sucks compared to old DirecTivo one) and a Sony DVD+RW/+R/-RW/-R Recording one-touch dubbing (whatever that means) i.link

I've tried to get DirecTV to walk me through it, but they don't know what they are doing. With my old DirecTV TIVO, I could use it to "Record Direct to VCR," which in that case meant to DVD recorder. Sony won't walk me through it either.
I assume that I'll have to play it in real time, as well. What a pain. I'm running out of DVR space, and I have a lot of obscure & rarely shown films I want to put on DVD.
I really miss my TIVO. It had a search function which allowed me to store more than 100+ names (directors, actors, etc.), keywords, and titles. The DirecTV DVR allows me to store 25! Wow!
I think that TIVO was much more intuitive as well.
