What is a good 30th birthday gift for a man? He is my ex, and the love of my life and I'm hoping to reconcile our differences. He is very intelligent, athletic, an aspiring cook, a home-body, likes politics and history.

buy a cook book since he's an aspiring cook & cooking with him for his birthday menu will lessen some of your indifferences.. not to mention a chance to be with him for a more longer time. :)

Sounds to me like letting him know how you still feel about him would be the nicest gift of all.

Otherwise, it depends on your budget. A really nice set of pots and pans or kitchen knives would be great (I pretty much fit your description, except four years older, and I would like those things). And most men are suckers for a really expensive pen.

Something personal, showing your appreciation of who he is, made by your particular strengths/skills... show your heart & how much you want _his_ back!

What price range? What's he like? Not all men are the same. We don't all like the same things.

Don't get him a gift, he is your ex. I would not like anyone trying to suck up to me.
