). A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%. Despite some people say, that new 360 has no breakdown issues - just visit Xbox section of Yahoo answers and see for yourself an amount of complaints.
    2). PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
3). PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
    4). Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
    Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
5). PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
6). PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
    Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
    7). PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
    Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
8). From the first technical sight - graphics are stronger in 360 (it has a stronger graphics chip - Xenos), BUT PS3 can use it's Cell CPU for graphics too, which gives you better graphics in total. PS3 uses a weaker RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. RSX runs on 550 Mhz. It's difficult to compare their graphics, because 360 has a video chip with totally different structure and operating memory is divided differently in both consoles. Xbox isn't that versatile in dividing tasks between CPU and GPU as PS3. That's why PS3 exclusives look better than 360's exclusives.
9). PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
10). Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 15 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
11). Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
12). In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
13). PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
14). There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
15). The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).
16). On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
17). PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
18).Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. There is a cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
19).Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
20). PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 is getting rumble controller (Dualshock 3) in 1st quarter 2008, Japan already has it. On www.ebay.com I saw those controllers on sale 50$ and up (unofficial import)
21).On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.
22).New 40GB is 399$ or 399 euro (depends on the region) - it has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games, has 2 USBs instead of 4, no built-in card reader, but it's the same PS3, strong, reliable, less noisy, different cooling system. The price is friendly.
23). But, to be just, I'm not a PS3 fanboy, so (despite I own one) hear this - PS3 games (exclusives) are very hard to develop due to complicated Cell's architecture. We have to wait till developers will figure out how to develop games properly. Sometimes multiplatform games run not so good on PS3 due to the same developing issues - it's hard for developers to get a grip on such advanced technologies.

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

If you want to socialize with more people, then go for the 360. But the ps/3 has way more options than the 360. If you want functionality, then go for the ps/3.

In terms of raw power, the PS3, however this is mitigated somewhat by the fact that it is apparently easier to write program for the 360, as it is closer to PC. In terms of games it is purely a matter of preference, although personally I love the 360 controller and find the PS3 very uncomfortable to use for long periods of time.

Xbox 360, the price for it in the beginning was just too much. I'm not a big fan of Sony after me and my brother's PS2 fan died and I think that Sony was just desperate to out do Microsoft. Not only the, but their current controllers are as much as a freaking game! I mean what are they thinking.

Xbox 360 by far my friend. If you want a great live experience, xbox live is for you, if you just want to play some cheap games, PS3 is the way to go. Xbox live offers much more though and for a good price too! Xbox live is becoming the biggest way of entertainment then movies have ever become. I can say in the new few years the world will depend more on gaming for entertainment then anything else. This fall xbox live also is having more things added to it. Like being able to watch a movie with your xbox live friends using Netflix or making your own avatar character and going into a community with gamers all over the world and playing games like 1 VS 100 from the reality show on TV. It's simply incredible what gaming has come to be in the passed years.

gotta be ps3 for me, no fee for playing online, ps3 uses blu-ray 50gb and the x-box uses dvd-9 9gb so it wont be long before the majority of games are too big to fit on the xbox.

with the ps3 you get a built in blu-ray 2.0 player, with the xbox you get nothing unless you buy the hddvd add on (not really much use now though).

the ps3 works excellent with a media server so you can stream video and music straight from your pc onto your tv.

ps3 has a built in wireless reciever the xbox doesnt.

ps3 doesnt have the redring of death.

i could go on all night but i dont think i need to, from a technical viewpoint the ps3 is alot more advanced than the xbox and so far there havnt been any games that even scratch the surface of what the ps3 is capable of. the only drawback to the ps3 is thelack of games but they are coming.

look at it this way, it wont be long before the console war will be the term given to a battle between the nintendo wii and the 360, as soon as the big games come th eps3 will be out there on its own with no competition in sight.

Yes and no. It depends on what you are looking for. The PS3 is a more robust system, sure. However, Xbox 360 has the titles and game manufacturers that make gaming enjoyable. There are a lot more factors to take into consideration, but not enough time for me to elaborate.
Again, it depends on what your are looking for.

Do a google search for "xbox 360 vs ps3"

ive heared the ps3 has better graphics then xbox360...but the ps3 in 2 months has had a big price drop from like 700 something to about 400 something. there are alot more games for xbox360..my favorites are halo3, assains creed, and gears of war..but neways ps3 didnt have as many "good" as xbox360. so there are ups and downs for each system.

I like ps3 cause I had ps2. I don't hate xbox and actually the way they set up prices fr different versions seemed clever to me but ps3 has more powerfull hardware. I could't decide which one to buy but since the price has gone down. I'd say ps3. So maybe I like ps3 more.

Definately PS3. The graphics card on the XBOX 360 can only produce up to about 400 frames a second for animation (each one is not drawn by hand). BUT, a PS3 can produce images at a rate of 1,260 frames per second. There might not be many games at the moment, but it will become better. It is not selling so much because it is expensive and doesn't have many games. But IT WILL!!! ^_^

This is a matter of opinion. I say that the Xbox 360 is better.

    It is cheaper.
It has basically the same or better graphics for MOST games.
You need an HDTV to make a PS3 look very good.
Xbox 360 has Gears of War and the Halo series.
Xbox is more popular (and thus more people playing it online, etc.)

I'll give you my take on it. Xbox has a larger game base than PS3, just cause its been out longer. However, Xbox's tend to just break down. I bought mine last September, hoping that all the bugs that they were having early in the release had been worked out, but within 5 months mine's broke down, and so I'll have to send it in to be repaired. If you really want to play xbox games like halo and fable, then get an xbox. they really are good systems when they're not broken. But I've never heard any complaints from ps3 owners at all. It's got a growing game base, and many platform game titles that are set to make releases within the next year or two. Plus it plays blu-ray movies, and has full internet capabilities, meaning like you can surf the internet on your computer, you can surf on the ps3, which is not something xbox can do.

What it all comes down to is personal preference. You just have to choose.

    Both...

The first version of the PS3 (20gig/60 gig hard drive)has hardware compatibility with PS2 and PSX as well as all flash memory cards and 4 USB ports, making it the most desirable of the PS3 systems.

Aslos as the PS3 has the ability to play Blu-Ray movies and is easily updatable to newer firmware versions it has utlity as more than just a games machine.

The latest X-Box 360 (Jasper motherboard) has a reduced power consumption and 65nm fabricated GPU/CPU which will lessen the chance of RROD failures.

And games availability is better on the X-Box 360 (at least for my favourites... RPGs), although that may change as the release of certain JRPGs occur later in the year exclusive to the PS3.

X-Box Live is more thought out than the equivalant Playstation On-Line, but you have to pay for full access, while the PS3 version is free.

Each has their strong points and their weaknesses... so I recommnd both.

    Hope this helps.

ps3's cell structure is more complex than 360's, and that what Sony's back-up talk is to Microsoft

but, why make them so damn complicated then?

Three sixty has a better game choice, but ps3 plays blu-ray.

I'm still going with 360, its cheaper and has better online service, and more gamers to play with on Live.
