I have two possible solutions.
#1 with the DVD player on, select "watch TV" from the DVD menu. This will allow the DVD/VCR to tune to the cable channels instead of using your TV's tuner to tune channels. You can change channels with the DVD remote, and record as you like with a clear picture and clear sound, just make sure that your DVD remote is in DVD mode.
#2 if you would like to record with your DVD/VCR but watch something different on your TV screen, press "antenna" on your DVD remote. This will let the DVD/VCR continue recording uninterrupted while you watch clear TV channels--just make sure to change channels with your TV remote after you've pressed "antenna" on the DVD remote.
Now, I have a question for you. I own a DRC8312 and mine stopped working. 99% of DRC8312 recorders have an internal design flaw that causes them to overheat and malfunction within months of purchase. Have you had your unit repaired? If so I would LOVE to know the phone number or at least the name of the repair shop. If you could reply or email pinmationbuddy@yahoo.com I would love it! If you have never had yours repaired, does it ever freeze-up or overheat when it is turned off? Thanks so much.
