  • By the way this is an intermittent problem. The heater works sometimes, and then it dosent work.
  • The next thing I would do would be to backflush the cooling system to make sure the heater core isn't just clogged. It may be a wise idea to replace the thermostat as well.
  • it could be the fan blower, or possibly a thermostat,
  • if the blower is working back flush the heater core and drain the coolant and refill not with dexcool
  • Hey man I got a 2001 Silverado with the same engine and mine was doing the same thing and all I did was on the dash panel where the fuses are, open that up and take the HVAC 1 fuse out then turn the swith on, but not to run for 1 minute when the minute is up you should hear a click from the dash. Turn the switch off then re insert the fuse and start the truck then it should work. Mine did!
  • The first thing I would do is check the cab air filters...
  • I had the same problem with my 2000 Buick LeSabre. It turned out to be the motor that controls the heater "doors" on the inside of the firewall
  • So the problem was; the Heater Core was clogged. I had it flushed and it worked like a champ! Then I smelled antifreeze every time I used it. It would blow out the vents... I finally convinced the Dealer that they had to replace the heater core, and after much negotiation they finally replaced it, under my Winn's Extended Warranty. I have had no problems since. Its been 3 months and works like new! Thank you all for your suggestions!!! :)
