Help answer this question below.
Two possible reasons:
1a) IE is and always has been a piece of crap.
1b) ...and Windows also being a total piece of crap has resulted in your IE being overloaded with spyware and malware.
2) AB and Yahoo have noticed that Microsoft still hasn't fixed the serious security holes in IE (reported recently and going all the way back to IE5), whereas Mozilla/FireFox fixed their recent errors within days of the errors being reported.
Why do you hate toolbars when you using any web browers?

so far tonight my browser (Safari) has crashed a half dozen times while clicking in AB. Anyone else? this happens every once in awhile.

You're reading Why am I not able to sign in into AB or even my yahoo mail from Internet Explorer but I can do that from Mozilla firefox?

I just switched over from IE 5 to IE 7, just today. So I don't think it would have been loaded with spyware so soon.

IE7 has a lot of problems with it, so many websites have written into their website coding that IE7 cannot be used with their website.

Microsoft found a humongous security hole in IE which extends back to IE5. They're still working on a solution. Hence your computer could very well have loaded up with spyware very quickly, since bad people know about the security hole that Microsoft still hasn't bothered to fix yet.
