My cat has just started pooing in the lounge but has always used the litter box to pee but has always pooed next to the box. How can I get him to poo in the correct place again?

If you think he is just pooing outside the box, you are SO wrong. Cat piss is the worst smell in the world and never goes away. Once a cat starts going outside the box, I put them down. There is no fixing him.

How old is the cat? Alot of cats do this if they have a health problem or are getting old. make sure you really scrub where the cat has pooped or pee'd hes likely to be returning there because he can smell his scent

You should take him to the vet. Seriously. A sudden change in behavior like this often means a cat is sick. He could have a condition that causes him pain when he's defecating. . You'll want to find that out quickly because he will eventually associate the litter box with pain. . I've had this happen to a couple of cats over the years, and in both cases they went right back to using the litter box. . When you clean the spot where he's been going, use a cleaner designed to neutralize pet odors. Even when it smells clean to you, he can still smell it. I've used a spray produce called PetZyme that always done the trick. . And, wow, did this question attract some pretty mean answers, or what?
