Come on, now. Calling him on by judgment calls are one thing, but he IS president and there's not need to call names. It's more important to let him know that he's no longer a candidate and now has to step up and put his words into practice -- fairly and across the board. If he truly believes in what he says on the campaign trail, he should practice it.

The question has an attached article from the NY Times. The temperature in the White House has been increased because Obama "cranked up the thermostat". There are plenty of articles out there from less liberal sources than the NY Times that cite insiders as saying the White House is so warm "you could grow orchids". I figured that the fact that the very liberal NY Times even touched on it, gave me gravitas to the issue than anyone else. It DOES have to do with the actual country. It has to do with global warming -- especially when he brought it up himself BEFORE the election. Apparently, sacrifice only pertains to the rest of us, not him. In his own words "that's not leadership. That's not going to happen." Unfortunately it did.

It's considerably above what previous administrations have left it at. In fact, it's so hot that one staffer said "You could grow orchids in there."

There is a reason why Obama's approval rating is now slightly lower, actually, than George W. Bush's approval rating in the Gallup poll 60 days into his first term, notwithstanding the acrimony surrounding the 2000 election. And yes, leaders should ALWAYS be called out on their mistakes and shortcomings. If not, they will not change their ways. We've learned that from the past 3 different presidents.

Hmmm, I must just not care about something that seems so trivial, I think if it was, more people would have been discussing it before it happened, how to fix the economy and prevent people from warming up their houses to battle global warming....Though, in my opinion, leaders are just people, I would like to see a president or prime minister, premier etc. that has made everyone happy in their term, though that is impossible, because they are one person....

I'd just like to see less hypocrisy. If a leader says "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all time. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." I'd like to see him practicing what he preaches. If he thinks I should be chilly in MY home -- I expect him to be wearing a sweater in HIS home too. I'd like to see HIM making the same sacrifices that he's asking of me when he can. It's not like I'm asking him to travel less or forgo his private jet. I understand security needs...but even Jimmy Carter, who I found a poor president in so many ways, had his positive points and the biggest one was that he fought hypocrisy. He turned down the thermostat below accepted norms and wore a sweater in the White House. He also sent his only child to a public school in Washington DC. You have to respect him for things like that, even if you (like me) thought he was an ineffectual president in other ways.

Yeah I totally understand. But I was under the impression all politicians were like that, well, everyone is like that lol. I just accept some things for what they are because I think no one is perfect, Though it just seems trivial.

I think Carter should have just turned up the heat if he wanted to, because it doesn't seem like a big deal. Something I would be passionate about is if a president said he was going to bring the troops home because he understands the concept of family, then kept them there for another 3 years or something, that would piss me off.
