A well known Serbian folk track - Rasti Rasti Moj Zeleni Bore, here by an artist called Vasilisa, who gives one of the better performances of this that I've come across . There's a movie clip with this in it here (very good movie too btw, accurate for once):

Anything by Philip Glass or Steven Reich. Check out Glass Pieces, Rubric, Einstein on the beach. Their works are used by many Contemporary modern and Contemporary Ballet companies. You might like this one by Penguin Cafe Orchestra. I danced to it recently.

Light Through the veins by Jon Hopkins No lyrics, and it is very techno. Its about nine minutes long. If thats no good, then try February State. They are a relatively new band out of Arizona. sort of a light, alternative music.

Some nice suggestions here with the other answers. Other possibilities: Composers Krystof Penderecki, John Adams, or possibly even more interesting -- take very traditional music and go to the opposite extreme in modern movement? Also, maybe try recordings by The Kronos Quartet - -some great stuff. Best wishes merde - whatever :)

My daughter and her friends did a modern dance sequence for their school concert recently. The used Carl Orff's "O Fortuna" as an intro.
