No difference in Canada. The presiding judge will issue a Warrant of Arrest for you, and the police will likely lay an additional criminal charge against you for Failing to Attend Court, under section 145 of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty for this offence is two years in jail. Bottom line...it's not a good idea to miss your court date !
