I cant even bring myself to class them as a band, to me a band implies writing the music, having a 'sound' etc. The Backalley Boys are just an act, like most boy bands. Essentially talented karaoke singers!

I don't think they'd object to being called a boy band, but they are talented vocalists (even though it might be debatable in Howie's case). When they started out, they were 13-21 years old, and they were definitely a boy band. Maybe after 18 years they feel they've developed past that denotation.
