• State lotteries are nothing more than taxes on the mathematically challenged and the poor. The mathematically challenged play the lottery because they don't realize that they can step into just about any casino and get much better odd. They are taxes on the poor because the rich already have their fortunes. So, they don't see any point in wasting their money on some that has such long odds of paying off.

• I am very glad they play it. If they did not then my taxes, and yours, would be higher! I think you need to look at other things like beer and cigerettes, lots of taxes there and mostly for the poor, maybe you should stop them also, then we can all apy higher taxes.

• Am sure the person who just won $160 million looks a real fool and sucker to you now, along with all the other millionaires that the lotteries around the world have made. The lottery is probably the ONLY way to make a real life changing move for the vast majority. Let them have there dreams and don't critisize others too much. :)

• No, the lottery makes a real life change for a very, very few. people. For every $160 million payout over 320 million $1 tickets had to be sold. (Most of this money is paid by low income people on the slim hope that they will get rich.) State lotteries payout less than 50% of the money that they take in. So, for every winner of a multi-million dollar prize, there many million suckers who paid for it.

• whats with all this religion thing? Do you buy beer, cigerettes, or are those against your religion too? Very few people, well look at the odds, of course its a few!! However the odds of winning a prize are 1:49 thats good odds against a casino.
  
  But people win the lottery every week around the world, Texas A&M did a study and conlusively proved that 99% of people who won the lottery either bought or were given a ticket somehow, just need to figure out how the other 1% did it lol
