There are several ways you can attack the problem but there are no sure way to stop it unless your hygiene isn't that great.

    1. Wash your feet very well, get in between those toes, and if you have heard of using a brush to wash in between your finger nails, the same can be applied to toes and toe nails. This will help brush away those debris that are lying under your toe nails and in betwen your toes that causes germ accumulation.

    2. After washing, make sure to dry off your feet and also in between toes and toe nails. Make sure to wear a clean gear to protect your freshly washed feet.

    3. Rub in some alcohol (the higher the concentration, the better). Pat dry with towel. Use blow dryer, the one you use to dry your hair to completely dry off your feet.

    4. Wetness of feet can still occur, for this use any regular anti-perspirant, the same that you use for your underarm, but be sure to label it for "feet only" to avoid transferring the bacteria from your feet to your underarm. Then use your blow dryer one more time to totally dry off your feet before you put on your socks.

    5. If possible, change your socks every 6 to 8 hours or at least twice daily. Invest on a second pair of shoes. Wearing the same shoes over and over again does not let your shoes to ventilate the fumes that's been sitting there. It needs to air out. If sun is out, it is advisable to put your shoes under the sun to kill bacteria.

    6. Do not walk barefooted. Always wear a gear to protect your feet from possible germ contamination.

    7. Lastly, treat your feet for a foot spa, buying a $30 equipment to massage your feet will relax your feet and will alliviate the stress it carry on a daily basis.

    Hope these help.

Little known fact:--People who don't wear shoes, don't ever get athlete's foot. In some native tribes it is virtually unheard of. While you cannot live like that in our society...try at least to stay barefoot for some of the time.

get cornmeal from a feed store or garden center and add 1" deep in a pan and cover with water. Let this sit for about a hour. Then add warm water for comfort and soak your feet for at least an hour or more. Good cornmeal from a health food store works good too, but garden cornmeal is used on plants to control and kill fungus and might work better.
