  • Where do you live? State? How long has your HOA been in existence? Have you ever seen the incorporation papers of the HOA? (BTW, they should be public, go to your city hall and inquire). Maybe your HOA is so old that it is effectively without teeth? Maybe the board of Directors have moved? I would first contact your city hall. they might be able to give you some direction
  • The state is Florida. There are HOA covenents, and they are very broad. The new BOD have decided that they do not need to hold meetings, publish a budget, etc. They have put out one letter stating that they are now in charge and will make the rules. They did not respond to a certified letter requesting a meeting with concerned homeowners. We are at a loss at how to proceed other than to hire a lawyer. We are concerned that they will use the money in the HOA account to fight any legal issues and there is nothing we can do until the next election in October. Suggestions????
