Well, Rin, I'm not all that sociable, but I bet you are. The fact that you want to be is in your favor. Despite the psuedo-intellectual bent towards being negative, being nice and having a sense of humor are two things to keep in mind.

Rin, you have to be touch with yourself to function appropriately in social environments. When people say you have to be "confident" that doesn't mean upbeat funny and entertaining. It just means you have to be in tune with yourself; you have to know your strengths and your weaknesses. You become more magnetic and shine brighter when you are happy with yourself, to put it better - when you are at peace with yourself and everything that makes you unique (both good and perceptually bad). Secondly you have to make an effort to conquer your fears of social anxiety. Nothing will get better if you don't try to face your fears. Becoming socially empowered doesn't happen overnight but with each effort it will become more natural and you will learn more things from bad experiences than good ones. The bottom line is people can see and feel when some one is not being genuine. If your actions are not congruent with your personality then it will appear and feel awkward to everyone including yourself! Be the first to admit your short comings. You will find that they will then turn into empowering social assets. I hope this helps!

Everthing I have tried has failed. I lack the basic aptitudes for social skills. +3
