I never received an allowance. Neither did my spouse or any of our children. We did this novel thing - work for our money. Have you considered a job? That will give you a life outside of school, money to spend, and you won't be home to have to do everything. And where on this planet do teenagers get an allowance from the government?

Well, you are going to hate me for saying this but, it could be better for you. I had the same deal until I moved out to go to college. I grew up with 5 siblings, but I was the only one who couldn't go out with friends, date, join clubs, or really anything. I stayed home, helped clean house, cooked for the family, and took care of my younger siblings. I hated it for a while, but once I began to want to date, I had earned my parent's trust and they were very lenient on curfew and what I could do once they finally agreed to let me. I still had to do my chores and had to babysit when it was needed, but when it came to the boyfriend and free time, my parents really gave me their trust. I never rebelled and went wild like most would, I dealt with it until I went to college. What they did actually made me more responsible. I was the only one they let get their license in highschool, they got me a car to drive, and I am the only one who went to further my education. I am also not a pregnant teenager, in a bad marriage, a divorce, or am a single and jobless mother, like most of my siblings. I regret not getting more involved in school, but I can make up for it in college now that I am here. I know how you feel, and hopefully you make the best choices you can while in the situation. You could always get your family together and talk to them about it, but that really didn't work for me. I just figured that life after highschool would get better and it did. Sorry if I was no help.
