Why do people hate caps lock? i was told to turn mine off (i'm new to this website). we only use caps at work, and anyone that doesn't it looks weird i dunno. i just don't understand.

Normal etiquette, caps on shows yelling, ie: emails, chat, forums, etc...

It isn't just here, the same applies on any Internet forum. Capitals are seen as a form of SHOUTING, and is therefore seen as being rude. Also, it is far easier to read lower case than it is to read upper case.

It's irritating. When you write, you know, with your hand, do you write in all capital letters?

In general terms, using only Caps gives the appeareance of yelling or over emphatizing statements.

This isn't your work. The small letters may look weird at work and the caps look and are weird here. AB only uses those for the beginning of a sentence or question, proper nouns and emphasis.

No one at your work types using lower case? What kind of work do you do?

Most people find it much easier to read mixed case text since that is how we see most text in "real life" (newspapers, books). Also, it looks like you are shouting.

On any Internet chat or forum Caps Lock is considered Shouting and therefore extremely bad mannered.
