Were we dead before we are born?

To my mind we were just nothing. When you die, you at least exist in memories (for a while at least). But before you're born there's no conceptual existence for you.

If death is non-existence, than I guess you could say so.

Technically we are never born or die, but that's a story for another day.

It is not a matter of being "DEAD" ... At some point in time ; we had made the transition from one body / vessel to the Spirit side of life and now, as we are reborn .. we are ready to return to this side of life

No we were not dead, we were nothing, or maybe we were something but who really knows ;). None the less I agree with nucleotideboy because when you die you're entity still exists in other peoples memories. Although it is still possible that we were dead 'somewhere' and then reborn somehow. I do not necessarily believe that but it is certainly a possibility.

We were spiritually dead (separated from God) until we are born again. In Adam we died but in Jesus Christ we are made alive again.

Oh man... a great opportunity to use an old philosophical saying... "I think therefor i am" Take what you will but im my opinion the only reason we have "life" is because we have a sense of consciousness. Before birth we have no consciousness (and no body), and after death we have no consciousness(and a corps). The difference is after death other consciousnesses have recollection of our previous existence. (and a corps) so to answer the question no you are not dead before you're a live.

That would depend on who you thought you were.Underneath your superficial self, which pays attention to this and that, there is another self more really us than I. And the more you become aware of the unknown self -- if you become aware of it -- the more you realize that it is inseparably connected with everything else that is. You are a function of this total galaxy, bounded by the Milky Way, and this galaxy is a function of all other galaxies. You are that vast thing that you see far, far off with great telescopes. You look and look, and one day you are going to wake up and say, "Why, that's me!" And in knowing that, you know that you never die. You are the eternal thing that comes and goes that appears -- now as John Jones, now as Mary Smith, now as Betty Brown -- and so it goes, forever and ever and ever.
