I would have nominated John McCain for that dubious honor, but the two previous answers are better candidates I think. However, I don't feel that any of the three has succeeded in giving veterans a bad name- at worst they have given themselves a bad name as veterans. Maybe Charles Taylor, Ferdinand Marcos and other dictators who came to power through a military coup.
