The world is not going to end in 2012, that's complete hokum and superstition.

If I had a dime for ever end-of-the-world I have survived in my 50 years, I wouldn't have to borrow my neighbor's newspapers for the rest of my life! :)

This 2012 malarkey is based on the fact that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012. What people omit to tell you is that the Mayan calendar was cyclical, and another cycle would begin if that calendar was still in use.

Here is a link for hundreds of end of the world predictions from 2800 BC to the present. http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm

Many people think they know just how the world will end, but every single prediction that people have made about the end of the world has turned out to be wrong. The 2012 hysteria is just an example of how people get themselves worked up and begin to see apocalyptic signs everywhere.

Some theorists try to weave a misinterpretation of the changing of the Mayan calender through their own creative translation of Nostradamus (another quack) and temper it with some vague reading of Revelations. Others created fantasy-math to try to prove why the LHC will make the world end in 2012. Never mind the fact that the LHC has been set back by several years since the first prediction was made, the "math" still seems to point to 2012, no matter the beginning point.

There are others who believe in fantasy planets that would be so close they could be observed by a child with a telescope.

It's all junk science, mysticism, and creative interpretations of very vague texts.

If you're worried about your salvation, just remember that the only end of the world predicted in the bible is clearly described as being totally unpredictable. There's something in there about "none shall know the time or the manner" or something like that. The fact that so many people seem to know just how it will go down, at the very least means that the god of the bible has nothing to do with it.

Visit JREF or check out anything by Michael Shermer or James Randi. They've both survived many end of the world predictions, and can teach you a thing or two about healthy skepticism.

If we all listened to everything we heard, we would be like you, wouldn't that just be a big ball of stress? Calm down, if it was such a big deal, don't you think it would be more widespread?

1st things first. IF the world were gonna end there is nothing anyone could do about it. 2nd going to church isnt gonna change anything. 3rd it will not end in 2012. and if i understand correctly its not the world thats gonna end its the human race. like when the dinosaurs died. im sure some will survive

My best friend has the same fear. I just keep telling her that if everyone really believed the world would end in 2012, things would be insane right now. Stealing, riots, murders. People wouldnt care about the punishment if they really believe everything is going to end in 3 years. I think us humans are going to be the reason for the end of the world and i dont think thats gonna happen in 3 years. Dont worry...you WILL get to see your babies grow up :)

No, its not that the world will end, but rather a new way of living will begin. Its the end of an old civilization and the beginning of a new one,a new age, a new way of thinking and doing. basically the dawn of a new era.. comparable to "the ways of our grandparents"/ to the "ways you live" that sort of differnce.. i hope im kind of explaining it.. someone else will surly do a better job. But I guarentee you THE WORLD WILL NOT END. WILL NOT.

I highly doubt the world is going to end -- there have been tons of these predictions, but in the end it's just people projecting their worries into something else and a hoax.
My parents used to be in a cult and the leader predicted the world will end in 199something. Needless to say, it didn't. Don't worry about these things.

My guess would be that your using this as a foil for real concerns / worry's you have. Sit down & talk to your bf & try to get to the bottom of it. My guess would be general concerns over your kids welfare & future...... & lets face it that wouldnt be much of a suprise considering how f#*!$d up things are in the world right now. In a calm moment ask yourself seriously if you think the world is going to end in 2012 just because some nut said so.

I can understand your fear, but it's also important for you to recognize that it's irrational.
After all, what's rational about letting an ancient Mayan prediction, motivate you to start attending houses of worship for a European religion?

Yeah, the idea that the world might end is scary, but step back for a moment and consider how you're thinking about it.
Getting scared over what amounts to little more than a rumor, running to any island of faith or shelter out of fear... Not only is that not logical, it's not even a very good reason to become religious.

I hate to parrot, but your husband seems to be right here: Stop worrying.
Or at least, if you're going to worry, make sure you have a good reason.

realizing your mortality can make life better, but not if you obsess. hopefully you'll get beyond it.
what I find strange is that you want to go to church (presumably Judeo-Christian) when it's a Mayan religion telling us when the world will end!
had I practiced Mayan religion and philosophy my whole life I might be worried.

Exactly, another cycle begins in 2012. some say a Planet X is going to swing by and cause ripples in the gravitational fields of our planet's surface. already the south pole and the north pole are melting. something is happening. in four years, the south pole might be changing into a tropical paradise. another cycle.

Well it never hurts to have a relationship with God, but even if the world did end, wouldn't it be in accordance to His will? He has a plan for us bigger than we know. If it did end, he has something else in store for us. He made us in His image and we know Him through the scriptures and by having faith. :) He is bigger than this world.

What you're hearing is all the "buzz" about a recent book of prophecies, predictions, etc., by numerous persons that the world as we know it will end in 2012. I have a copy, and am looking at it as I write. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I refuse to believe that any one living or dead has ever had access to that particular piece of information. Just keep on living each day to the best of your ability, go to church and develop a personal relationship with God and our savior Jesus Christ, and include your little ones in this. And take your boyfriend with you.

Dont go to church cuz you think your gonna die.
    Go cuz you wanna go.
Besides all the focus on the future is taking away from the focus on the NOW.
We need to take a look around us and do the now...
the future is superstition, nobody knows the day or the hour the world is going to end. NOBODY.

Why the hell are you believing this 2012 hokum? Has anybody other than a fairground storyteller given the slightest reason to believe that 2012 will be any more significant than 1812 or 1912?

In 2012 the Mayan Great Cycle ends. In 2000 the Christian Millennium ended (at one end or the other - mathematicians fee free to argue). The Christian culture is still alive, unlike the Mayan. Nevertheless, after one Millennium follows another, and after one Great Cycle follows another (the current is, I believe the fourth, so the one starting in 2012 will be the fifth).

My world, your world, or anyone else's world could end today. We might not make it to 2012. Approx. 160,000 people die every day. Most don't think it could happen to them. I'm not much into religion, but I do think everyone should search for truth. Go to the website below, and get your free book. Don't let me or anyone else decide for you, compare the facts, and you decide for yourself. I am glad to here you are concerned about spiritual things, because nothing could be more important than where you will be in three million years. Here's the website for the free book on truth.
    www.OneHeartbeatAway.org
Here's what the Bible says will happen when you die.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Take the little test below, and see how you would do if you stood today and were judged by God.
Look at the "mirror" of the Ten Commandments. Ever
lied? Stolen? Lusted (adultery of the heart - Matt. 5:27-28) or had sex out of marriage? Guilty or innocent on Judgment Day? Heaven or Hell? ("All liars will have their part in the lake of fire" - Rev. 21:8). Jesus took your punishment on the Cross, proving God’s love. He defeated death. Repent and trust Him - God will forgive you and give you everlasting life. Read the Bible daily, obey it - John 14:21. God will never let you down.
If you need to, please get right with God today, no one knows for sure if they have tomorrow. Eternity is a terrible thing to waste.
May God continue to speak to you and may you find the Truth you are looking for.
    God bless you and yours!

The anxiety and fear such talk evokes is the very reason you should stop listening about all the nonsense about 2012.
If you are a Christian, and the world does happen to end in 2012, it would be strictly a coincidence. The Bible tells us that NO MAN knows the day or hour when the end will come....it only admonishes us to be spiritually prepared.
If you are a non-Christian, perhaps you should reconsider.

Your a worrier, having little ones doesn't help. There is so much crap to fear, learn to redirect your attention to pleasant areas now or I swear it will always be something.

I'm not a big church go'er myself but I assure you if something bad happens to your or your kids the Lord will be there for you whether you attend or not.

Will the world end in 2012? No, but please consider... For several of my close friends over the years, the world has already ended. A friend who lived next door to me in high school suddenly died of a heart attack about 6 years ago, at age 40. Two years ago, a very wealthy friend I knew (with everything to live for) was hit by another motorist on an expressway as he exited his Mercedes following some car trouble, age 47. Less than a year ago, another friend (the older brother of the first mentioned) was killed in a freak, head-on accident while driving on an Interstate highway, while on his way to work one morning! A drunk came flying across the grassy median and nailed him, age 51.

It is my personal belief that you are hearing the quiet, still voice of God. It's always best to respond to that voice in the very manner you are already considering, by starting to read the Bible and church; a true Bible believing church. Going to church is not "the way of the world" and it is possible some people are likely to think the whole thing a bit odd; some more so. It's not. Many are called; few chosen. Many hear; few believe. Believe this, one day each of us will stand before almighty God, in one of two judgements. The Great White Thrown Judgement will be reserved for those who rejected the free gift of salvation that Christ purchased for us on the cross. You don't want to take part in that judgement, you want to be in the judgement of the righteous.

It's hard making these decisions, especially when you're young and don't want to loose your boyfriend over a decision like this. God has a lot of grace and mercy He is ready and willing to give, if only people will receive it. Unfortunately, many people reading this will reject these things... to their loss. I pray you will not. May God bless you and your family.

I am a big reader of these kinds of things, 2012, nibiru, the annunaki, doomsday prophecies and such, it's interesting but there's no more real proof that the world will end in 2012 anymore than it could end tomorrow. It could all be true, it could all be paranoia...who knows?
I'm not a religious person but I have to say, what is it about the end of the world that would prompt you to go to church anymore than before? If it's the end of the world, it's the end, I don't think church attendance is gonna make a difference and if there were a god I would think he would know if you only started going to church only because the end of the world was nigh.
So in summation I would say that the world will end when the world will end and there's nothing any of us can do to stop it, the best we can do is live our lives like it IS ending tomorrow, cherish every minute, love every second.
