Help answer this question below.
1, he would never have rolled over for the government controlling the super humans and would have been a natural rallying point against it.
2. He is well known for being the "Boy scout" hero and marvel seems to be moving toward a darker style for the mainstream heor which Cap would never have been able to fit.
3. my pet conspiracy theory is that marvel intends to replace some characters in the 616 universe with their ultimate counter parts and or fuse the two universes together kind of like D.C did with "crisis on infinite earths" merging, replacing or removing as the writers will.
4. his smaller fan base is now being filled out with nostalgia fans, people who over looked cap before are taking another look now that he's gone.
I think they killed him off cuz he was just totally lame.. Seriously, he had a stupid looking shield, and did he even have a weapon? I think they should've killed off Captain Planet first though, he was double lame.. Next though, get rid of the flash, superman essentially does the same thing, and hes actually okay.. The flash has a retarted outfit
I think the fact that Captain America was a worn out hero with a waning fan base while his contemporaries continued on was a bit of political statement of it's own.
