Help answer this question below.
make sure the disk you have inserted are clean from any soil or dirt, if yes clean the disk before insertion , secondly clean the lens of the player with a good dvd lens cleaner like philips lens cleaner etc. hope this helps
If this happened only with a single disk, I would blame the disk [*]. Since it happens with all disks, either the transport or the controller have failed. Given the noise, I think the transport is the likely problem. This is a case of repair or replace.
There is a slim chance that something has jammed the transport, such as label that has peeled off a disk. This can only be checked by opening the case, but only after the player has been unplugged (lethal voltages inside).
[*] One of my CD players makes nasty noises when a DualDisc is loaded. This is not a problem with the player, but with the media, as DualDiscs do not meet the CD Red Book standard.

You're reading My Sony DVD player no longer reads a disc.If I insert one,it will make some noise, then says No Disc.Won't even let me use a cleaning disc!I usually turn it off with the remote putting it on stand by.Never did it til I turned it off all the way for a week
