Help answer this question below.
I didn't know he'd died until I read your question and am shocked, and very sad. I'm British and consider Updike one of the very best writers of the last century: he spoke for a generation. The Rabbit series is a masterpiece. RIP.
Tell you the truth I could never "get" him. I tried on several occasions to read something of his.."Run Rabbit Run" was one of them. I found the style tedious and uninteresting. Sorry he passed away. I'm sure he has many fans. I just never "got" him from the point of view of reader who loves to get lost in the books she reads. Happy Tuesday my friend! :) ((hugs))
I loved Updike and will miss him.
what was his biggest hit?
The only thing I've read by him is "The Christian Roomates" and I loved it.
