It sounds like you need to program the remote of your DTV converter box. I a different model, but on mine you hold down the "TV Power button" at the same time you press "Channel up" or "channel down". Stop when the TV shuts off.
It could be that the button may not work anymore. I experienced that problem with my cable remote. I couldn't turn the volume down, or change the channel up. I thought about it for awhile then one day I took it apart and glued on that conductive material I got from an old remote that didn't belong to any device anymore, and cut it off the old buttons and glued it over the the defective buttons in the cable remote. Works like a charm now!
Usually you can do it by ( i worked for a cable company)
- press and holt the TV button until it flashes
- once its flashing or a solid illuminated color press the power button continuously every second until your tv turns off.
This should work.
good luck.
the tv doesn't have a problem, you have to assign what buttons on the controller do what to the TV, usually with your computer. if you look on the internet, you can find codes to do this
So just keep watching TV then - take a break, you deserve it.
Get one of those cheap universal remotes (about $10) and see if it will turn the TV on and off. If not, the problem lies with the TV itself.
