  • Some people compensate for their insecurity by trying to appear harsher and tougher than they really are - most of them just come off as jackasses. Others will try to point out the flaws in other people so no one will focus on theirs. Either of those would cause problems in a friendship for me.
  • Some insecure persons become bullies. Another trait is the inability to take responsibility; nothing is ever their fault. They will point fingers and blame rather than admitting they caused something or were wrong. If you know someone who is never to blame, you probably know an insecure person. I wouldn't be friends with a bully or a person whose low self-esteem causes them to lie.
  • Lack of trust.
