  • Yeah, yeah. The "rubber" of an eraser is a mild abrasive, and it scrapes off the layer of paper that has the writing on it. That layer is in small pieces, and it is brushed away with the bits of eraser that are left. It was more elegant when I used a Fountain Pen in school. There were Liquid Erasers that bleached out the ink!
