Help answer this question below.

In college, a guy once said to me "I love you more than I love myself." He freaked out when I told him that concerned me. Do you think you should love yourself first or is it okay to love your s/o more?

    It would mean that your happiness came before his. I can see why that might freak you out, especially being so young and not married as of yet...but when you get older, that's the type of love most women crave in the long run. How many times on AB do we see ppl asking about "Why doesn't my S/O love me enough..." and that's just on HERE.

    Being able to love yourself is one thing, but that doesn't make it impossible to love someone more than yourself, in fact, I would consider it quite a compliment, I'm sure what he meant was that your happiness and well being were more important to him than his own, which is nothing to be 'concerned about'. To answer your question, I think it is ok to love your s/o more, as long as you love yourself some too.

    i say that you s/o should come first i would like to make others happy than myself..Life/death situation a guy will kill me or my s/o we get to pick id pick myself to die id just make sure he lets her live

    nice question.actually i believe that if u dont love urself than u cannot love other.
    i think that his words are only artificial.

    u can love to anyone but dont forget to love urself.

    I think it is the ultimate love, that anyone would give their life for another. Thats pure love that doesnt come around every day.

    I love my s/o more than myself. id give my life for her in a heart beat. now i dont have low self esteem or anything i just love her and care about her more

    By the way, I have been happily married to my soul mate for 12 years. And I love myself first.

    Doesn't mean that I don't love him or wouldn't sacrifice for him, just means that I love and respect myself first.

    He wouldn't want it any other way.
