Somewhere posted in every casino, is an area that tells the player, the payout aggregate for that time period. if its posted as 86%, that does not mean that if you played a slot machine with $100.00 dollars, that you would not lose just $12.00. what this really means is this, somewhere in that casino, is one slot machine that will payback those odds. you will just have to find it. and, of course the casino hopes you will never find it. thats why you never play just one slot machine. walk to many slot machines and deposit one, two or three coins. i have won more jackpots by using this method. remember, slot machines never lose money. its the casinos money-maker. a single $1.00 slot machine can average $5,000.00 a day. thats just one machine!! if a casino has 1,000 slots, think of the money they are making.

It depends on the casino, but they're usually weighted towards the house by 5% to 12% (meaning they pay out 95% to 88% of what you put in per game.) Your typical large casino in Vegas is going to be closer to the 12% range. Smaller casinos may attract customers with the "loose" slots that are closer to 5%. Casinos can set this number very accurately, so they know exactly how much money to expect from their customers.

To clarify the percentages, a 10% house advantage (or 90% payout) means that on the average single game, the slot will spit back 90% of what you put into it. This may seems like a good number for night's work, but this number is for a *single* game. Let's say you start with $100 and lose 10% on your first game - now you've got $90. Are you likely to win on the next pull? No - your odds still dictate that you're going to get 90% back, so you're probably going to lose $9, leaving you with $81, and so on for each pull.

Is it possible to come out ahead? Sure, but not probable. : )
