I doubt it. After all, it partly was this war that bought upon the recession to start with.
mabey but if you didnt notice the war were in is one of the causes to this depression to
These days it is the complete opposite.War cripples,as we have seen, cripples badly society, and the country. It is looked down upon by the world, and accomplishes nothing but make money for the weapon makers.
That was a time when manufacturing in the US was at an all time high. Private sector companies that built munitions or were some how related to the manufacturing of unifomrs, boots, and war related items were able to hire many people. Ultimately the war made it possible so that people were going back to work.
The U.S. has dwindled its manufacturing sector by outsourcing out to companies in CHina or Japan. The U.S. is at best a service based economy. I wouldnt be relying on any war in the future to get us out of a depression now or in the distant future. Its sad that we even need to go to war. Its like history keeps repeating itself. One of these days humans are going to blow this planet up because we are not an advanced people. We are still in the stone ages. Sure we can put a man on the moon, or launch a satellite into orbit and spy on other countries.....but try making a cell phone call acorss town without it dropping the signal.
I digress...
We all pray that will not be necessary.
Yes pretty much if Obama can not figure out a way to save the falling economy we will most likely be seeing the great depression part 2 and world war 3
Many Americans in both rural and urban areas of the nation did support the efforts of the New Deal during the Great Depression, even though most of the New Deal measures did not get us out of the depression. FDR’s Fireside Chats provided confidence and reassurance to many. Rural electrification, Social Security, insurance of bank accounts, protection for labor unions, and federal controls over the economy gave many a sense of security in the future and in the government. While there were some radical movements during the Great Depression, the faith Americans had in their system of government did not falter. The American people today seem to have more faith in the government to guide us through a depression. With government stimulus, that not all like, and a faith that the economic system will not collapse completely, most seem to believe we will get through the current economic crisis. To those of us unemployed, it may seem like it is taking too long, but there are signs of improvement. Notice also, no attempts at any radical measures or groups that were evident during the Great Depression.
probably
I really hope not.
probably, unless we seize iraq and afghanistan's oil.
No, we've blown our wad on Iraq and we have outsourced quite a bit of our military manufacturing. Some crucial parts have gone to China. Go figure. Anyway, it won't have the same effect otherwise it would have already.
We need to build equity and fairness back into the system. The money situation is too lopsided in favor of the extremely rich.
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
It was a very different time under very different circumstances. We had a draft and sent millions to war, often against their will. We lost millions of lives. It reduced the work force, and hence, made enough jobs for enough people. If they brought back the draft and we went into all out war against a few countries, then maybe. But things would have to get really really ugly, and let's hope that doesn't happen.
Yes, and it's going to take a complete World War to do it this time! The problem is when we have a world war this time they ALL have nuclear weapons! The last time only the US had them!

You're reading The last time America went into a deppresion, the only thing that saved us was war. War brought jobs and ended the last deppression. Is that what we can expect in the future to save us again?

Not necessarily the war as much as the idiots in charge of the budget.
