Honestly this is a good question. In college I helped out a moving company for part time work....most people forget to look behind the interior doors for pictures they had hung on the walls. It happened all the time. We would move somebody in and there would be a picture or a poster hanging on the wall behind an open door.

hint from someone who has moved more than once per years of his 6 year marriage, buy a weeks supply of disposable eating stuff and food that does not require the stove or oven. use that your last week. kitchen stuff is the biggest pain.

Something that I wish I'd have done on more than one occasion is "case" (spend a little time) the neighborhood before moving there.

To clean out the little butter shelf thing in the refrigerator...oh and the medicine cabinet!

People often forget to fill out address changes at the Post Office. Also, a week or so ahead of the move, remember not to buy any groceries - you'll just end up having to move them or toss them. People often forget things like garden hoses in the yard.

OOOOH!! I got another one (because I JUST made this mistake while moving this weekend!!) Then cabinets ABOVE the refridgerator!! I think I've forgotton to check in there while moving on several occasions :-/
