Nope... Not delusional... I know... We watch the Indy news every night and hear about amazing atrocities. I think the problem I have with it is it SEEMS to be new in the "Western World"... At least the brutality of it.

And we've seen, on the news, the brutality around the world.

Or 17yo girls leaving their newborn kids on a doorstep in extremely cold weather with a note that she can't care for it, despite having at least a hundred places around town she could leave it called "Safe Havens", for just such a purpose (firestations, emergency rooms, etc.) Or those who immediately kill the baby and toss it in a dumpster... or...

Yeah... I know. I ain't young, either (54 in a couple of months), and my kids (and my wife's) would NEVER do anything like any of the above.

Indeed, BigDaddy. I am so glad that I am not going to live to a ripe old age. I, literally, thank the Gods of my Ancestors to have made the decision to not have children.

I feel so sorry for everyone in this situation... parents and children. If I had children I would be doing my best to prepare them, enrolling them in martial arts, training them myself to survive physically and mentally, and much more.
.
The reason I was snipped was because I realized that I could not provide for a child a stable future which would include a paid college education that they did not have to work through. I decided that I would adopt if I ever became able to provide properly for my child or children which I never was. So, if I had children, they would not be as likely to fall into poverty but, even without that issue, it is still not a safe world.

This world is not safe. It would be safER but not safe. Providing them a college education would give them a solid chance at a better life than those who have to fight. What they did with the money I left for their education is then up to them.
.
If I had children I would do everything I could. The most important thing would be teaching them to fight and preparing them mentally to not hate like my father did because he knew the racism I was going to face (and they would obviously) and how to not lose their minds when they see what the world is coming to.
.
My father started me out well with teaching me how to fight and he taught me, specifically and in detail, how to handle racism showed to me and how to not react by becoming racist myself. Due to falling ill and my mother's death birthing me he was not able to provide that college education but he really gave me a good start in life. Also, while not a demonstrative sort, I knew how much he loved me.

LOL... I tried to stay out of those latter "solving of problems", and succeeded pretty well. I don't recall hitting anyone (but my little brother! LOL) That's not to say I didn't GET hit a few times, but nothing really major... Just nuisance-types, usually... Well, one broken nose, but... (Funny how bullies can treat you when you're alone and they aren't, huh? Hell, the kid that broke my nose wasn't even the one that seemed to have a problem with me.)

I didn't really get into fights a lot. I was only involved in one after school skirmish. I kept moving around until the person was tired of trying to hit me. I'm not even sure what started it, but I think it was the other person's personality because I didn't get involved in them either.

Oh, hell... I never LOOKED for it... It was idiots... One guy tried to punch me in the stomach when I blocked him down at flag football practice... He hit my Boy Scout belt, and cut his knuckle... Of course, that was MY fault. Another time, I ran into a big black guy playing tag in the gym (damn near knocked me out, and I think it DID for a few seconds). I apologized, and went back to center-court base. He (and his entourage) came to me, bitched at me for running into him. I apologized again, and he punched me in the shoulder. Spent the rest of that year CROSSING halls-full of kids to punch me like that. Next year we were both moved to a new school. I saw him ONE time on the way home, and said hi and where are you going (he was going the opposite direction). He said detention, and that was that. No punches. Another kid I'd been in 6th grade with. In 7th, I saw him at his locker and TAPPED it so the door swung toward closed. He jumped me after school...

...I climbed the stairs with him on my back, and at the top, backed hard into the wall to get him to let go. A few minutes later, his supposed ex-MARINE brother came running across the yard, and tried to kick me (karate-style). I dodged, and he grazed my hip. Then he came back the other way, did the same, I did too, but he knocked me down. Couple years later he too was moved to the same school, and was in Gym with me. We had to run laps. Even I was faster than he was... I ran up to him and said "Come on... You can do it..." He said, "Must be those damn cigarettes"... LOL. And in HS I had a punk, for some reason, throwing cups of pop at my car, trying to get them in my window. One winter day (icy/snowy road) I saw him and his buddies about a block in front of me, and AIMED my car AT them, braking within plenty of time. I don't remember him throwing anything at me after that. LOL BUT, he was in the same Boy Scout troop as me...

Accidents happen...people need to understand that. That's one thing that most people I've encountered seemed to understand. But I think it's when you know or suspect someone's doing something on purpose...that's when the fights seem to break out.

One night, leaving, I went into the Danner's, near there to play a video game and get some stuff. (I rode my bike. It was outside.) I saw, through the front window that he and some buddies had grabbed my bike, and I saw them slam it into the bike-rack. I went out, and got on it, finding myself surrounded by idiots, and an older idiot (my scout troop's senior kid) holding my handlebars. After some discussion, he let go, I took off, and one of the idiots in the circle swung, hitting me flat in the face with his fist. Rode home (about a mile), holding my nose. The glove I was wearing was ruined (blood), but my nose had basically stopped bleeding by then. (Think that broke my nose. Now I have a deviated septum.)

Never had any PHYSICAL problems with any of them after that. I think they figured if I could take that punch and keep going, maybe I was stronger than they thought! LOL

And the ONE guy hurt HIMSELF by trying to punch ME. Oh... I met him and an older couple of guys on the street one the way home one day. We all talked, and they let me go. A couple of years later, I was working at my Dad's store and that guy came in. I talked to him, and it was like NOTHING had ever happened between us.
.
THAT'S something else everyone needs to realize... All those slights, and small reasons for fighting in grade school and beyond, CAN mean NOTHING to everyone a couple of years later, UNLESS there's REAL physical damage, or someone gets killed. Now-a-days, they have to deal with guns, knives, and other shit in schools. Ridiculous.
