depends what kind of animal and what you are using them for. One or two are good for dogs and cats however 1200 to 3000 can be good for cattle.

we have two dogs, one cat and a damn taruntula. too many to me is classified...
1. can you feed them and your family without anyone suffering?
2. can you provide Hospital/vet bills for all without anyone suffering?
3. living conditions must be sanitary.
if you can do all adequetly then have as many as you want.

I have 3 dogs. I think people should be allowed to keep as many as they can afford to feed groom and provide vet treatment for.

Good question...you should only have what you can afford to keep..no more..many people I've seen in the past have them then cant afford to keep them...

I have a dog and a cat. Thats enough for me. Just trying to spend time with them that hard but I manage. To many pets I would not want to have cause I don't want to neglect any of them. There to precious.

You can't ever have too many! I have four birds, a 75 gallon fish tank with 11 fish, 2 rabbits (soon to be many more :)), and two dogs.

In my opinion it isn't enough. I love animals.
As long as you can take care of them properly, I think you should be allowed to have as many as you'd like.

The local police where you live will have to tell you how many pets you can have legally on your property. too many would mean it would be too expensive to keep them healthy and well fed. if a neighbor files a complaint about too many pets you could lose them so be sure you find out how many you can have vs how many you want.

I'd say it's whenever you have an inability to care for yourself or your pets. I have a dog, three cats, two ferrets, two guinea pigs, a hamster and a lizard, and our house is large enough to support that and my six family members.
They say owning a pet can help "lengthen your life" do you agree with this?

We have around 800 cows I think of them as useful pets lol. We also have 2 horses 6 dogs working and pets 2 fish 10 chickens a Cockatoo, two Cockateils and two Budgies and two Cats, Whew, they are mostly farm animals and my boys pets , I have 5 boys.

That's normal to me, I grew up with 2 dogs 1 cat 4 horses two ducks 15 chickens and about 1000 cows, not to mention the pig and the 8 tropical fish.
